It's IMPOSSIBLE to describe everything that goes on in and around Nashville, during the week of the CMA Music Festival. Even for a 7 year old online magazine, or any other media outlet, "It's IMPOSSIBLE to see and cover everything. That said, goes to the point.. "You will never lack for something to do or see, or hear."
I always fly into Nashville, the Thursday before the CMA Music Festival starts, Al drives down from Illinois, and Fran lives there. I usually find airports less crowded, and cheaper tickets by flying on a Thursday, instead of Friday - Monday.
I like flying in early, than spending a couple of days relaxing and geting evrything set for a busy week ahead.
My first Sunday in Nashville, is set aside, for mine and Fran's regular horse back ride outing: we ride for about an hour. Nothing like a good ride, to help give a good night of sleep.
Monday June 4.
Fran and I headed out to our 3rd Lonestar & Friends Strike Out For St Jude bowling party fundraiser.Even though we get credentialed for this event, we still buy a ticket.
When we pulled up, we saw (again) just how big the lines have always been for Lonestar & Friends Strike Out For St Jude. This event is a regular sell out.
Once we were inside , and checked in, the first artist I saw was Chris Young.
Young was behind the table that held the items for the silent auction.
I know Young was also going to be at the WKDF Celebrity Beach Party (to benefit Cystic Fibrosis) on Tuesday June 5.
Young was only one of about 30 celebrities in attendance for the bowling, and hosting a celebrity team. Others celebrities included:Jake Owen, Tracy Lawrence, Julie Roberts, Bryan White, Danielle Peck, Tanya Tucker, Trent Tomlinson, Buddy Jewell, Darryl Worley, Jimmy Wayne, members of Emerson Drive, Little Texas, Lonestar of course, and many more.
For First Timers:
If you have never been to a Lonestar & Friends Strike Out For St Jude event, let me tell you what to expect.
1. Arrive early, so you increase your chances of getting a good vantage point inside the bowling alley, in case you don't get selected to bowl.
2. When the doors open, you will be greeted at a check in table.
3. You will be told if you have been selected to bowl on a celebrity team, than directed to another person,
*A total of 4 people will be assigned to a celebrity team, and bowl 1 game.
This is done twice, so 240 fans will get to bowl with a celebrity.
After you have checked in, you can find a place to park your stuff (while you wait to bowl, or just watch), you can than head into the room, where the BBQ dinner is, you can also check out the silent auction table.
If you've been selected to bowl, you'll be told 1st game or 2nd game, and what lane, and what celebrity, and given a wrist band.
This year, I bowled with Jerrod Neiman, and shared the space with Jake Owen.
We bowled right next to Tracy Lawrence & Tanya Tucker. I tried to shoot some video, shoot pictures, and bowl at the same time... IMPOSSIBLE.
When it was someone elses to turn to bowl, I went and got pictures of some of my friends bowling, and pics of some of the celebrities I've know for a while etc.
The celebrities are very friendly, and when it's not their turn to bowl...can be seen walking around and signing autographs, posing for pictures, or singing along with the music over the loud speaker or, just talking to the fans.
This is THEE most fan artist interactive event during the CMA Music Festival week
(in my humble opinion)
Remember the silent auction I mentioned earlier, well... Each celebrities bowling shirt ( which has their name embridered on it) gets autographed, and is also auctioned off.
